Reflection About Change Campaign / 20%
Change campaign was a long and hard process of stress, dedication, and satisfaction after everything came together. My partner and I worked together in order to make our project perfect. It got to the point where we were so stressed that we had to remind ourselves not to get so frustrated with each other. We started off by coming up with our overall topic- elders and dogs. We wanted to take dogs from shelters and take them to elderly homes. This would help both cases because the dogs would be promoted and socialized, while the elderly become less depressed because they can feel like they have a stronger purpose in life again. After that, we did our research. This included ethos, logos, and pathos research so that our audience knew that we had reliable sources, and well as us being able to reach them on an emotional level. Some of our finished products would be our PSA, website, and promotional items. We used Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator to make our promotional items. These included stickers, business cards, and a t-shirt. The t-shirt and stickers we planned to sell so that we could make a profit, so I made a financial plan with our long and short-term planning. It had our net and gross income, profit, expenses, and our planning for the next three years of our high school career. While I was working on this, my partner was taking our English PSA that we wrote, and translating it into Spanish. This was one of the challenges we faced because I take French, so I was unable to help each other with that part. Once that was finalized, I used Adobe Premiere to insert all of our pictures, videos, text, and audio to create our final PSA. It also included some of our facts from our research, as well as our pathos. We also made our why, how, and what statements. These include why we are doing this, how we are going to carry our plan out, and what our overall goal/plan is.
During this intensive, I learned how important it is to be able to work efficiently with other people. It takes a lot of patience, professionalism, and dedication. I needed to be able to talk with my partner and be able to contact them so that we were able to get all of our work done in a timely manner and make it look nice. For our 20% project intensive, we carried over our change campaign. We created our standards that we wanted to meet, as well as the plan. Our next steps were getting our website link from last quarter, and writing our speech so that we can actually reach out to businesses. When we did call, we were turned down by several different places. This was almost to be expected, because although we were professional and mature, ageism does play affect. We called back to ask why, and their basic answer was that it was not a good time for them to partner with us. If we want to change something, then we will wait until we are at least a year older and meet the people in person. This makes it harder to turn people down, and we will be able to give a brief presentation.
