Reflection About Get Amped
Get Amped was an interdisciplinary unit that involved math, technology, humanities, and English. This project surrounded all things to do with music and culture. It was a fun and engaging project that I enjoyed working on. During the Get Amped unit, I started off by learning about the psychology behind what happens in the human brain while listening to music, why it does what it does, and how we feel different emotions when listening to music. To go along with that, we also focused on a specific culture and what type of music is most popular there. I also learned about how we as humans can physically hear and understand music, and what that process is like. On top of that, I received more information about what sound waves are and how they travel through the air to be interpreted, and how pitch and tone all plays a role in sound waves. After learning about all of this, I started the project itself. The first thing I did was work on an amplification device that I could use later to amplify a song that I actually created based off of the French - Canadian culture that I decided to study. From there, I started to work on the song itself incorporating different instruments, rhythms, beats, and tempos. After that, I wrote an artist statement that gave some information on what my song was and who I am as an author. Throughout all of this, I also wrote an informational essay that was all about the science, humanities, math, and world language behind music.
